In the past I have attempted to go on diets (I dislike that word), eat healthy and all that jazz but let me tell you it is HARD! The amount of will power and patience you must possess can sometimes get to me. One “diet” or cleanse I have tried in the past that has given me results was a liquid fast.

There are so many types of liquid fasting to include pure water, beer, broth and juicing. My fast is usually done using protein shakes. I believe it gives me all the proper nutrients I need while also helping me build muscle and clean out all the waste my body stores.

The last time I tried this liquid diet my goal was for seven days. I made it to about 3.5 before I saw that I had dropped 6lbs. While many may think that was good news, to me it wasn’t I had tried for years to gain a little bit of weight and when I did this diet took it away. So it’s safe to say I stopped lol.

Be careful when trying these types of cleanses especially when trying to lose weight because you may see results on the scale quickly but keep in mind you may just be losing water weight. You can’t go right back to eating like normal because it will reappear quickly.

Below are four of my favorite shakes. I like to add oats and/or granola to help with my food cravings.

  1. Chocolate Peanut Butter Almond Protein Shake

almonds

Ingredients

5-6 whole almonds (or 1/4 cup crushed)

1/2 cup of almond milk

1/4 cup of vanilla or plain yogurt

1 scoop of chocolate protein powder

2tbsp peanut butter

1/4 cup of granola

1/4 cup of oats

1/2 banana

1/2 cup of ice

*To save time and ingredients you can always buy granola with oats and honey prepackaged. Some of them come with crushed almonds as well.

2. Pineapple Mango

Ingredients

1/2 cup pineapples chunks

1/2 cup mango chunks

1/2 cup of almond milk (can substitute for pineapple juice for a more fruity flavor)

1/4 cup of vanilla or plain yogurt

1 scoop of vanilla protein powder

1/4 cup of granola

1/4 cup of oats

1/4 cup chopped celery

1/2 cup of ice
