Homemade Jerk Sauce

Hey loves!

So sometime last year when I was still living in New York I decided to learn how to make my own Caribbean Jerk Sauce. The area that I lived in had about two Caribbean restaurants that sold jerk chicken but they both tasted more sweet than spicy and I like my food to have a little kick to it.

I started researching online and in books how to make  my own sauce and YouTube was a huge help! No seriously you can find almost anything on there! So I took a few different recipes and mixed and match a few ingredients until I was able to come up with something of my own! I absolutely love this recipe and have used it on chicken, steaks and on my veggies to give it a little extra flavor! It’s so easy to make trust me!

Check out the recipe below!

Ingredients

3-5 sticks (whatever they are called) of scallions

1 whole tomato

4-5 scotch bonnet peppers (Hotter) 2-3 (mild when deseeded)

1 whole white onion

1 tbsp. ginger (you can use the powder)

2 garlic gloves or 2 tsp. of powder

1 cup of pineapple juice

3 tsp. salt

1 tsp. black pepper (add 1/2 of cayenne of you want)

1 tsp. thyme

2 tsp. all spice

3 tbsp. brown sugar

1 tsp. nutmeg

1tsp. cinnamon

2 tbsp. oil (vegetable preferably)

1/4 cup white vinegar

1/3 cup browning

Here’s the fun part! Just put everything in a blender and viola you’re done!

Often times we find ourselves hoping to following our minds rather than our hearts and we soon realize it's not the case. we get so caught up in our feelings and allow the stream of tears to sway us into making short term decisions that has long term effects. Sometimes we need to take a step back from ourselves and look at things from the outside. Ask ourselves is it worth it? Will I be ok with my decision tomorrow? Once we decide that it is worth losing we need to breathe in release and let go! No looking back, no regrets, just high hopes for the future, less frowns and more smiles.
