“Promise yourself today to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.”- Christian D. Larson
It makes me so happy when those I know and love accomplish something they have worked hard for. I legit get excited about the smallest accomplishments because they are stepping stones for something bigger. Today was one of those days where my excitement got to be put on display three times over.
I started my day like most in the gym. Working out and releasing a lot of negative energy that may have found itself to be a part of my spirit. Happiness is the goal and I plan on continuing with that trend.
The first celebration beginning as we sat poolside partying it up for one of my best friends 30th birthday (5/11/17). We celebrated today because it was the weekend and most people were off. Lots of food and drinks were consumed, back yard games played and new introductions made. I finally got a chance to meet her fiancé in person and to witness their love first hand. Congrats again on the engagement Akilah and Brock and Happy Birthday!
After a quick shower and nap at home part two of my day began. It was actually not that long because of a certain stereotype that black folks are never on time. A security guard at my job was having his 65th birthday party and invited me. Mr. Garnett (no pictures) is a pretty cool guy and I was looking forward to eating some Jamaican food so of course I went. He told me it would begin after five so when I showed up at 7 imagine my surprise to see they were still setting up and no one was there.
It was a laughable moment but I was glad that I was able to show my face and drop off his gift. I stayed for a little over an hour but had to make my way to event number three!
School is super important to me and no matter how much I say I hate it I am always willing to learn. One of my workout buddies and new friend recently earned her degree in social work so a few members of our gym and I decided to get together to surprise her with a dinner to celebrate her accomplishments. Big shoutout to the organizer Wes who went above and beyond to make the night happen.
Shermaine we are super proud of you and I am happy I was able to distract you long enough to get you to the location. Your genuine surprise and appreciation let us know that you were worth it.
There have been so many graduations, proms, engagements, weddings, babies, promotions and new adventures happening around me lately and I just wanted to tell you all that I am so proud to know you and wish you all the success in the world!
